Sunday School Update
To the Parents
Greetings Sunday School Parents and Grandparents,
As you know all too well, this year is different from any other year. Carefully following the advice we’ve gotten from the Synod and other sources, we are offering a remote Sunday School this year - with a hybrid model for Confirmation Class starting in October. Fortunately, the videos for the Spark Whirl Curriculum that we use are available on Amazon Prime, which means you can show them to your kids at home. If you don’t have an Amazon Prime account - just contact me and we’ll figure it out. Each week we’re committed to sending you the name and timestamps of the pertinent video, as well as a question for you to ask your kids, and a question for your kids to ask you along with the weekly worship e-mail. Your kids will also be receiving the weekly activity/drawing sheets through email for the service, as they have been since the beginning of the pandemic. I've heard that you all are Zoomed out - and we're trying to figure out how to honor that while maintaining fellowship with your families. Church is meant to be a blessing as opposed to a burden. Some form of distance fellowship through Zoom is forthcoming.
I also am hoping to talk with each of your kids over the course of the year so that they know that their church loves them, and that we’re praying for them - no matter what they’re going through. My plan is to have a one-on-one conversation with each of your kids via Zoom or on the telephone once per quarter as you are available. Of course I am available for more conversation as needed.
I want you to know that I’m praying for you all as well. I cannot imagine how difficult and unexpected this season has been for you. Remote learning cannot be easy. I admire your perseverance and commitment to your church, and your families, and I’m glad that your children will be learning about faith through the ones who first embodied God’s love for them. God is faithful to us and has brought us this far. We’ll get through this together and may we all be transformed for the better (1 Corinthians 15:51-8; Romans 8:31-9). Feel free to call me with any questions, I’m here for you.
In Christ,
Pastor Kaegler

To the Kids
Greetings Sunday School!
I’m sad that our Sunday School this year will be different from years past. But I know that God is faithful to you, and will get you through the year ahead. And here at the Church, we want you not just to “know” that in the way that you know 1+1=2, but instead to KNOW that in the way that you know that your Mom and Dad love you. Because those are different ways of knowing things, you know?
So for the year ahead, for as long as we’re apart, we’re going to keep having things you can watch and do from a distance. Each week, you and your parents or grandparents can watch our Sunday School Whirl videos together, and read the Bible together. When you finish the video and the Bible reading, I have questions for you to ask your parents, and for your parents to ask you. You’ll also have the drawing sheets that we send every week for you to use during Church. Most weeks, you’ll see that the Sunday School video and the Church service are linked together. Try to figure out how they’re related! I know you're Zoomed out, but we're hoping that we can all see each other through Zoom as well. Your parents will find out when and let you know, too.
I’m really going to be missing our normal time together in Sunday School this year - but I want to stay in touch with you. So I’d also like to take some time to have a conversation together on the phone or on Zoom at least once in the Fall, once in the Winter, and once in the Spring. We can talk more if you’d like to. Always remember that God loves you, and is working around you and with you in really amazing ways. When I remember that - nothing is quite as annoying or upsetting, so I want you to remember that too.

Our Congregation uses a Sunday School Curriculum called Whirl, published by Augsburg Fortress. The kids gather around the same lessons we read in church each week with biblical, interactive, video, and song components.
